To be utterly honest, I don't think I could reproduce this again. I basically took a Zindy Zone Tube, added layer upon layer of textures, and tinkered with the blend modes and opacity, then added some plug in filter magic to it...It reminds me of those well known sketches that Leonardo Da Vinci did...- at least it looks like it to me, anyway...

This is a tag I designed, after seeing the Levesque tube, and Asian looking Digital Scrapbooking kit and, getting my paws on 'em...- I KNEW that the idea I had would work..and it did...It's really a combination of all my favorite PSP things...the back ground is a blend of the different papers in the kit, I also played with blend modes and opacity...There's some brush work in it...masks, filters...oh yeah, and the BEST thing of all? A Jason Levesque "StuntKid" tube!!!

This blend was submitted to the Celebrity Fever challenge at Creative Expressions- I took the Silver in that one...

This is the blend I submitted to a Blend Challenge Site...The winners or new challenges haven't been posted just yet..I'm anxious to see how well I did for my first serious blending competition, so to speak...

Wow! Last time I posted was April...I went back and looked at what I'd posted...The PSP stuff I posted- stuff I'd made around that time was- well horrid..Let's just say that I've improved rather splendidly..although I have a long ways to go in contrast to the other taggers I've seen in the PSP groups I frequent and haunt...

As Paul Harvey would say, "And, now you know the rest of the story!"

Didn't mean to stay way THIS long....

Well..I certainly didn't mean to stay away THIS long. Really not much new in terms of crocheting to be told, other than extensively adding to my stash- last thing I need! Honestly. But, it was done with good intention, generosity in mind, and an eye for the budget! Sugar n cream is on sale at Hobby Lobby this week.99 cents a ball. So, I went and stocked up.

Dad and I are with out a car again.(He totalled the Cavalier in November, just before Thanksgiving. Luckily he only had minor injuries. He ended up buying Uncle Allen's old Toyota. That didn't last long. Given that it's a stick shift and a Rust Bucket on Wheels, essentially.

Saturday I had to run out west. Out near Wal Mart West...to go to Best Buy and Michael's. ( Back up disc for the puter...got some yarn at Michael's for some baby ghans. And went and had my nails done. I like THIS set A LOT better than the set I had before. I ended up getting the white tips...so, it's kind of like a French Manicure look that my nails has. Sport Length, of course. With all that I do with my hands, having long nails just isn't practical, and is a pain in the rear to deal with. )

Today, it was a jaunt to Barney's for Tobacco..then I went to Hobby Lobby and Hancock's. Probably shouldn't have. But, it's not often I'll make an extra trip that far out west. But, I did today. Hobby Lobby had Sugar n Cream on sale for 99 cents this week.

Since my last post, I've also gotten a DVD player..and have seen the latest Harry Potter, Capote, and the new Def Leppard DVD. Oh boy, what else am I forgetting?

Oh yeah! Part of the reason why I haven't been posting with any real regularity lately is that I've also been playing with and learning Paint Shop Pro v.8 ! And have made several signature tags. ( You know those really cool, personalized graphics you see in emails, in forums and BBS Boards? Yeah, those!) I'll post a few of them here over the next several posts. (There are quite a few of them to share. Some I made for me, some for my birth Mom, others for pen friends...)Here are a few:

There ya go...there's several of them that I made for me...enjoy!

Nita

Genita is in the freakin' building!!!!! Yay!!!!

LOL..No really, I had to take a forced sabatical away from cyberspace...due to the compaq computer giving up the ghost! We've since obtained a new computer! So, I'm back!!! So, you know what that means...I'll be posting more frequently...or so I hope, anyway. Crochet wise, all that's left of the baby ghan I'm working on is the edging. ( Most likely will go with a vintage edging of some sort.) Also, I've been printing off patterns and other online goodies I've wanted for a while.

I haven't been in the best of moods or felt too whoopie. Have a raging tooth ache involving the right side of my mouth, upper area. Hurts like hell! To be quite honest, I have been a short tempered, cranky bitch since Saturday morning. I'm positively dreading attempting to go through Hunter Health Clinic's Dental thing to get this taken care of. The following reasons are:
1. My medical card doesn't cover it.
2. I don't have the money for any co-pay or whatever. (I'm broke until December 1st.)
3. I'm scared shitless that they're going to be stingy with the novocaine. Not dose me with enough TO numb it out, and try to pull it anyway. (Had that happen before at Hunter Health Clinic. Let me tell you, I was screaming in agony, and it was hellish pain! THEN the dentist got nasty about it- telling me I shouldn't have felt that, and NOT to scream in his ear!)

But, I KNOW I have to go get it taken care of! No two ways about it. With my luck there is most likely infection in there- meaning antibiotics. Which is NOT good for a Diabetic. So, I know I can't just keep putting it off and trying to hold out until the first. Although, I'm not at all sure which is going to be the least expensive- putting it off, and have to go to the hospital with a $50 co pay at admission, Or what they're going to charge with the sliding fee scale at Hunter Health! ( I'm thinking the second option might be the better bet! I SO don't even want to THINK about going to the hospital.) So, that means with having to do the dinner thing at the care home for Jewel tomorrow, it will be Friday before I can get into Hunter Health to get this dealt with...)

Thanksgiving, this year, is going to be downsized. In that, I'm planning on making a small dinner- meaning Turkey Tenderloin, Sweet Potato Stuffing W/ chunky Tomato Gravy, green beans, and Toffee Ooey Gooey Butter Cake. No sense in making A LOT of food when there is only Dad, Molly and I to eat it. ( I mean really- time to get real about that one!) Then there's Christmas...No clue what we're going to have for Christmas Dinner. ( haven't thought or planned that far ahead, actually. More than likely something we already have on hand.) Christmas gifts? Well, I need to get off my dead ass and get something done about those! But, it will get done.

Anyway, that's where I'm at, at this point. More concerned about this darned tooth ache than holiday concerns! Pathetic, I know..especially when I love this time of year DUE to the Holidays and all the special not every day stuff that it includes and involves!

More to come later!

Nita

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://mycrochetaddiction.blogspot.com/2005/11/genita-is-in-freakin-building-yay.html' title='Genita is in the freakin' building!!!!! What's the point of having a blog if you're NOT going to update and keep it current- giving others a glimpse into what you're upto in cyber space and in R/L. Which I haven't really been doing!

Okay, I'll admit, I've spent time oogling the eye candy at this one website- Yarndex.com- I've seen some pretty interesting stuff there..but the suggested retail price of it turns me off of obtaining any of it! I'd have to say the Noro Kureyon or Noro Silk Garden REALLY caught my eye! I LOVE those colors...and after seeing THIS particular felted pocket book....Felted pocket book

And the Booga Bag That inspired the Pocket book...Don't get me wrong I like the colors BOTH ladies used..but, I saw other Noro colors that were more MY style, and more to my tastes, though...But, I can't stomach the idea of spending NINE dollars or more per skein of ANY yarn...No matter WHAT it is, or where it came from.

Quite honestly, the Noro Kuryeon, Noro Silk Garden, and the Rowan Yarns are probably my favorites to go drool over- Noro for their colors..Rowan, simply because it's British Yarn..Okay, I admit it- I'm an Anglophile! But, at THOSE prices, I'm sorry, but, this Kansan has to shudder...NO Yarn is worth those prices- even if I DO want to get my hands on the stuff especially badly! - I think about as CLOSE as I'm going to get to the expensive more upscale stuff is going to continue to be Patons, Lion Brand, and maybe Brown Sheep...

I also have to admit that I've seriously entertained the idea of attempting to make my own- something close to Noro kind of thing...via Kool Aid Dye. But, what has me concerned is the idea of how labor intensive it is- is it WORTH obtaining everything to do it, and actually going through the process WORTH the results? Is it less expensive than the $9 a skein for the Noro Kureyon?

The thing that has ME concerned about Felting is just how much will it add to the electric and gas bill? The Water bill? I mean really, Winter is coming..and they've been saying on the news that people's utility bills are going to be almost 20% more expensive than normal?! As much as I love the look of those Noro Yarns, and the utterly beautiful felted bags and other items that are made from that kind of yarn...I'm simply going to have to do with out! Too expensive for my pocketbook!

I just wish Red Heart would come out with some yarn that looks LIKE the Noro Kureyon and Silk Garden...- the coloration of it,anyway- in the Super Saver...But, I somehow doubt it... I think as close as I may get to the Kool Aid Dye thing- but, more muted is some of the Homespun...(Their Quartz, and Waterfall shade reminds me of some of the Kool Aid Dyed stuff I've seen in terms of color.) - I guess I'm just going to continue to look and drool over what I can't afford...again...

That leads me to something else I'll never understand that totally exasperates me and pisses me off to no end- Yarn and Fiber Snobbery! Oh yeah, and add in the senseless superiority and disdain that knitters show Crochet people on a frequent basis! I was at Wal Mart Yesterday, and had some knitter shove me out of her way so she could browse the yarn wall! I kid you not! Some woman just rammed her cart into my lower back, and shoved me out of her way...I presume she was a knitter...because she literally ripped me a new one about how ANY yarn was TOO good to waste on crocheting, all the while bitching because she couldn't find HER "Yahns"...going on about why she couldn't find the Rowan and other more expensive brands and types of yarns- while glaring at me with the Crochet hook I almost bought in my left hand! Geez! And, let ME tell you, my lower back his pretty bruised up, and hurts like hell, too! I gotta admit, I was PISSED off to say the least. I turned around and smiled sweetly, Well,Ma'am, I certainly hope THAT temper tantrum made you feel ever SO much better! As for finding those brands of Yarn..you MIGHT go to Heritage Hut and see if they have what you're looking for there." - and walked off. Then she started cussing me out.Every kind of superlative one can attribute or add to describing what ever kind of bitch there is... I simply turned and asked, "Sorry, but, I'm no one's bitch...my Mom's the expert in the field, I'm just a rank amatuer and apprentice. Sorry." - REALLY ruined my day..and I couldn't sleep worth a damn last night, my back hurt THAT bad!!!! So, please forgive me for being SO cranky and bitchy this morning!!!

Nita

It's official.....

Knitting isn't for me! ( Yes, I DID go and take a knitting lesson....)But, with my learning disability, and the technical preciseness of Knitting...I don't think I'm suited to that particular artform. I'm meant to crochet..( I REFUSE to say Hook...- I mean, really, THINK about it...durring the Civil War, there was this guy with the name of Hooker that fought in it...he became known for acqusitioning prostitutes for the soldiers..so they could get a little nookie in their down time..those prostitutes became known as Hookers..Sure when one crochets they 'hook', and use a hook..but, it doesn't make one a hooker in the traditional sense or collequialism of the word! Okay, I COULD be really anal and touchy about it...in french the word crochet means ' to hook'...but, I don't think those hookers had the SAME kind of 'hooking' in mind when they shagged all those civil war officers...) I'm far happier, and feel MORE accomplished with a Susan Bates Silvalume crochet hook in hand with some Acrylic Worsted or Sugar n cream in hand than I ever will with a set of damn knitting needles in my hand! As much as I enjoyed the fellowship of those other ladies, I came away throughly detesting the mere thought of ME knitting! I guess TWO hours of simply JUST casting on, and my inability to catch on as quickly as I did with Cross Stitch and crochet was enough to disgust and turn me off the idea of knitting. Now, that ain't saying I'm not going to go back for class, but, I'm NOT going to put myself AND that nice lady, Mary through another gruesome two hours like I did yesterday! I think she'll find me far easier to teach when it comes to the stuff I don't know about crochet! Basically, all I'm wanting to learn with that, at this point, is the post stitches, Puff Stitch, Pop Corn Stitch...and maybe Crochenit..( I've got the hook, I just as well use the damn thing!) and Tunsian. I really DO owe her an appology for that. I'm sure I frustrated the hell out of her! (And, myself, too.)

The sorting hat says that I belong in Ravenclaw!

<

Said Ravenclaw, "We'll teach those whose intelligence is surest."

Ravenclaw students tend to be clever, witty, intelligent, and knowledgeable.
Notable residents include Cho Chang and Padma Patil (objects of Harry and Ron's affections), and Luna Lovegood (daughter of The Quibbler magazine's editor).

Take the most scientific Harry Potter
Quiz ever created.

Get Sorted Now!

It's also official that the "Sorting Hat" says I'm Ravenclaw! Hee hee..yeah, I'm an online quiz and Potter fiend. Kind of a no brainer and no Shit Sherlock kind of thing!

As for new photos for the blog, I've got to get batteries for my digital camera...I've got some baby things made up..and need documentation...

As for the latest movie I've seen, I borrowed my Mom's Forsyte Saga Video set...It was shown on Masterpeice Theatre a few years ago, and is VERY good...it's based on the series of books by John Galsworthy. How I wish I'd checked out that book while at South...if I'd had known it was THAT good and interesting!?? Oh..and I've got to admit that the guy that plays Soames was a hottie, despite the fact that he was an anal wanker that needed some serious smack down! The guy that played Jon Forsyte was even more a hottie, though..... Okay..so, I like stuff like that- there is also the fact that I actually liked the old "Rich Man Poor Man" series with Nick Nolte in it...( And, can we say hottie!!! Oh yeah...I've always thought that Nick Nolte was definitely drop dead, droolingly gorgeous...*fans herself*... I'll even be honest enough to admit that I also used to stay up really late when I was little to catch the series based on John James' series of books that started with "The Bastard"...about the Kent Family. The guy in that, I THINK his name was Andrew Stevens...and he was with Kate Jackson for years...or something like that. - I'm sure I don't have to remind anyone of who Kate Jackson was- she played Sabrina in Charlie's Angels, and was in "The Scarecrow and Mrs. King"...back in the day... Anyway, my watching THAT mini Series didn't last long..until Aunt Lou and Joni found out that I'd been watching it...boy, did the fur fly over that one. But, then again, this is the same kid that used to watch the old "Mary Hartman" series,too...- NOT exactly appropriate television viewing for a ten year old...but, it WAS interesting, though! ( A LOT more interesting than Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, Jaques Crusteau, and some of the other stuff Dad tried and failed to get me to watch as a kid! As it was, he played hell getting me to pay to the news and current events, intitally. Did I mention that I'm stubborn?)

ah well...enough blathering and not saying anything of interest or actually intelligent or interesting...It's not like anyone cares about some of the stuff I watched in TV back in the day....*snickers*- Like I won't deny- I was a STRANGE kid...and an even more strange adult...can we say unique, and possesses far to many idiocyncricies for her own good??? Yup, that sums me up! Wierd! LOL...

Which Annoying B-list Celebrity Are You?
Brought to you by Rum and Monkey.

You know it's REALLY really bad when you take an online quiz for which B list celebrity you are..and you get one that annoys the hell out of you with his cheeze ball image and reputation...God! I'm the one that ALWAYS flips the channel when ever ol' Regis shows up...and that Kelly Grippa lady that's his co host? I thought she was cool when she did " The View" with Barbara Walters and company...well...anything with Regis IS cheeze ball, overly anal, artificial and lame in my opinion...I don't know. I guess the first not so nice thought that crosses my mind when Regis is assaulting my visual perception mode- is that I ask myself if he's Gilderoy Lockhart's brother or fraternal twin or something...- And, that's the honest to gods truth, too! *Shudders*...okay..it's time I went and got a little more coffee...this ain't lookin' good after THAT..*shudders*....

Nita

More online tomfoolery and hijinx....

You Are Somewhat Machiavellian

You're not going to mow over everyone to get ahead...
But you're also powerful enough to make things happen for yourself.
You understand how the world works, even when it's an ugly place.
You just don't get ugly yourself - unless you have to!

How Machiavellian Are You?

Yup, I'm at it again....more online personality quizzes....LOL..

You are an Atheist

When it comes to religion, you're a non-believer (simple as that).
You prefer to think about what's known and proven.
You don't need religion to solve life's problems.
Instead, you tend to work things out with logic and philosophy.

What's Your Religious Philosophy?

I suppose I'm Family Circle on a good, non PMS day...hee hee...

Take the quiz: "***~*~*~****What magazine are you? But that doesn't
mean you should kill a certain race and try to
take over the world....

Which famous (or infamous) person are you a reincarnation of?
brought to you by Quizilla

Oookay...this one really pegged me...yes, I AM racist...However, I'm not too comfortable with the idea of being compared t Adolf Hitler,though...

With Which Harry Potter Male Are You Most Sexually Compatible?
brought to you by Quizilla

Gotta love the dark, snarky Potion's Master with a steel trap brain, the sarcastic cutting mouth on him..and oooh my...that lanky, restrained strength about him in more than one way...I bet he'd clean up nicely,too...Yuppers..I'm the sort of female that goes for the intelligent, broody, dark ones...THIS one makes "Angel" from Buffy look like a wanna be...in more ways than one...definitely droolworthy... Okay, so I like 'em Slytherin..( And, I'll admit that my other favorite older HP character is Lucius Malfoy!) - Then again, since I've seen the movies, when I read the books, I visualize Snape looking A LOT like Rickman...NOT a dead ringer,but,simular...*drools* I'd willingly serve Detention with that man anytime! Too bad he and Lucius are fictional characters! *sighs* (Then again, on the Gryffindor side of it- I can't decide if Harry's really my favorite or the Weasley twins, Fred and George..out of the younger ones...but,out of the Marauders, definitely Remus Lupin....(Sirius is too neurotic, scatterbrained and juvenile for my taste...) There's just something about Lupin's character that REALLY gets to me almost as bad as Snape or Malfoy does...- but, when push comes to shove..Well...I'd have to say the Werewolf has Snapey beat...big time. I mean, really- the best of both worlds- Lupin IS clever- else he wouldn't have been as an effective Defense Instructor as he was,I especially like that quiet, understated way he comes across with it, it's all there in his eyes- the intelligence, and the understated quiet way he comes across..combined with the wildness of the werewolf in him? Then combine that with the hell raising pranksters I have the very real impression the Marauders were? If you're knowledgeable about Harry Potter, just think about it, and you'll see what I mean! Where I come up with that conclusion, well, at least MY take on those characters...

Nita

More mad ranting and raving about the inept Jack asses in Washington DC

Okay...This is entirely TOO much, and beyond the pale!!! I surely don't know where that Condoleeza Rice woman gets off thinking to tell people to "Wait on the Lord, he'll always be on time!"- yet, in the face of great suffering she has to go shop for SHOES at that Furgamo place in New York- we're talking EXPENSIVE LEATHER shoes...while people in New Orleans were- and presumeably still ARE going with out?!That totally kills me- off shopping with out a care in the world..then going to church, telling suffering people to 'Wait on God'! You'd think the daft jungle bunny bitch would THINK and not JUST consider herself! Geez...I've been spotted shoppnig in New York having quite the good time, THEN, the NEXT day, I have to go face the people of my home state...and all I'm going to tell them is 'Wait on God'...and I don't care HOW shitty it looks that I've been shopping and having the grand old time...I just HAD to have those cute little expensive shoes! * simpers*...That's ALMOST as bad as the Vice President taking himself off to his ranch in Wyoming, or the President brown nosing the celebrities in Nashville, playing Golf, and enjoying playing Jr And Sue Ellen with the Little First Lady down in Crawford, Texas!

In the past few days, I've seen SO many good links in terms of presenting the news from the common working man's spin...with out the White House's warped spin on things..minus the Spin Doctors they're SURE to have. - I'll have to see if I can go back and find them, and put them on my side bar...No, really though, The more I read about what's going on with this situation, the more annoyed, irritated and exasperated I get! With the demographic precentages I've seen, various comments or quotes in articles I've read...Maybe I was WRONG about it being NOT being a race thing...however, everything I've read...that wasn't main stream media...proves my case in point- that it IS a War upon the impoverished, the elderly, disabled, and children!- the Undesireables. Hell, it borders on genocide, actually. I don't think there's ANY way that they're going to be able to wash their hands of the innocent blood that permeates their skin. They're damn well going to reek of death every where they go- for the rest of their lives!

I was SO right when the thought crossed my mind- that the Bible Thumpers were going to rise up and scream that the people in New Orleans brought it upon themselves- what a fallacy and load of feces! Okay, Those that were coming to New Orleans for their Decadance thing weren't even IN New Orleans...- IF that was God was trying to do, and IF God even exists...then WHY were all those innocent people- okay, they were black..- and I'm a firm believer of Separate but Equal..( You know, the old Jim Crow laws, Segregation..Pre- Civil Rights Politics?) It wasn't broken, so why in hell did they destroy what was working and bugger EVERYTHING to hell? That's what I don't get! - The point is this...what of the children, elderly and disabled? Oooh and Good for the authorities in Louisiana- the Attorney General...that pressed charges against that nursing home..the one that had 34 people die due to their negligence- just nailed boards up, and kept those elderly people in there, thinking they could ride out the storm? Bullshit! They KNEW what they were doing! They KNEW those elderly people would die! I hope the authorities and courts there throw the book at them, and nail them with the harshest penalties under law!

I don't think I'll ever forget that one gentleman, the Parish President that told of that elderly mother that begged her son to send someone to help get her out...and never did. The lady died that following Friday...her own son let his Mother die!

Or, what of the local authorities in New Orleans and the Governor of Louisiana- that Babineau lady...HELP CAME...She turned it away, the Federal Government turned them away...Help came, but Government wouldn't allow those people to access it. Excuse was, I understand that it didn't come through 'proper channels'- meaning bureaucratic bullshit, basically...it didn't come from the Government!

Gods, the entire situation is exasperating..but, it's hard to decide WHICH outrage takes the cake. Condoleeza and her expensive leather shoes, and simpering how those suffering people needed to ' Wait on God'...ha! She had HERS..it didn't even touch her and hers...so, the people of Alabama didn't matter...they were expendable! I hope the nigger bitch roasts in hell for it- along with the rest of Bush's administration!

Okay, subject change...Crochet wise, I've been working on several things-
1. The scarf for the swap at Crochetville.
2. Aunt Mattie's lapghan
3. Kitchen items for Uncle Jim.

I'll post pictures, but, it's too dark outside to do it just now. Even if it is 6:50 AM Central Daylight Savings Time.

In the past couple weeks, I've picked up a few of the current crocheting magazines..I don't normally buy the magazines. I tend to find my patters online, free..( Sure, I spend a dime per sheet I print off at the library, but, it's basically cheaper that way...but can STILL run into money.) Out of the newer Magazines, I've finally found a couple of clothing items I want to make for myself...
1. Easy Going Hoodie
I LOVE this-This is SO something I'd wear! it just screams "Nita!" ha ha..No, really, it does! Honest!..However, I think obtaining the Rowan yarn for this is going to be way beyond my budget...so, I'm wondering how it will work up if I used Lion Brand Pound of Love in Denim??? (Both yarns carry a 4/Medium classification as per the Yarn standards protocol. So, I'm thinking it SHOULD work!- I hope...)

2. Color Waves Topper

I really really like this! Although,I was hesitant about ALL that purple..but, after consulting the Lion Brand Catalogue, that's the only option that really works..SO...yeah, I'll take the plunge. Can wear it with jeans..
3. The "Funky Hat" in the new Family Circle Easy Crochet plus Knitting magazine.- sorry no link.
4. I also like the Car Coat in the Simply Creative Crochet/Better Homes and Gardens 2004 Issue. ( It's on the front cover.) The only difference is that I'd make mine in a different color that the one used in the model. Instead of the Carribean, I'd probably go with the Blue Lagoon, or Pebble Beach. Although, I admit it took me awhile to decide if I actually LIKED the car coat well enough to want to invest in the yarn to make it, though. (Again, I can't find a link for this. Sorry.)

I FINALLY saw the pattern that hastened the decision that I'm going to learn how to knit come hell or high water.
Northern Lights Wrap

I LOVE the blue and silvery look of this, and the added touch that the Trellis adds to it for the trim, fringe. Also, I THINK it could also be done, teamed up with other colors in both the Moonlight Moonhair and Trellis,also- that is, if blues, silver, and greys aren't your thing...It doesn't look THAT difficult to do- but, sometimes Lion Brand Patterns are deceptive, though. - at least that's been MY experience with them. ( Or maybe I've been picking or drooling after the wrong patterns.) But, my goodness! I LIKE that particular wrap... *sighs* Question remains if I actually DO break down and hot foot it over to Heritage House, or Michaels for knitting lessons, though!

Nita

Ex Con sentenced to crochet afghans...and my thoughts on the Natural Disaster in the Big Easy...And CheifJustice Renquist's passing...

This has to be the MOST creative bit of sentencing I've seen- A judge sentencing a man convicted with child molestation to crochet afghans...Due to his being disabled, unable to do anything strenuous...and the guy LIKES crocheting??? Okay....that's different. You can bet ANY judge at the Courthouse, here, in Wichita would NEVER be THAT lenient! Good thing ol' boy wasn't tried or his case adjudicated by one of Nola Foulston's Prosecuting Attorney's...( I just bet Nola would have kittens at THAT idea!)

This article wasn't what I was going to post or talk about this time...But, I couldn't pass it up....My heart and mind is elsewhere..My heart and mind is on what's going on in New Orleans. I'm SO damned angry with the Federal Government, FEMA, and general Government stupidity!Making those people suffer while they had their god damned fingers rammed up their asses..."Gee...we're safe. We've got ours....Let's just clean out some of the poor...or ethnic peoples! Let's let sick people go with out!"- THAT is what angers me the most...but, my heart breaks..seeing the desperation, pain, fear...not knowing if help was going to come..were they going to live...were they going to die?

I'm sitting here doing my best NOT to cry! I'm NOT much of one to cry...it doesn't mean that I'm heartless or lack compassion and humanity. On the contrary...But, damn! Those people are SO strong, brave..and courageous in the face of overwhelming opposition. I'm glad that the Federal Government FINALLY got off their lazy, rich asses and have DONE something about it! As for what I can do to help? I don't know. I mean..heck, I'm VERY lucky to get State Assistance from Kansas SRS...for being here helping take care of my elderly father.

I've seen the spectacular video footage on MSNBC, of the Navy going into New Orleans with Helicopters harnessing people and lifting them out of the flooded streets of New Orleans...Seeing the people leaving New Orleans on their own- leaving the only way they could, on their own, on foot. I can't get it out of my mind...hearing one of the News Anchors talking about the Diabetic gentlemen that begged for help, begged for Insulin- Help never came. He died 10 minutes later. But, also Bayer, the company that makes Ascensia Elite Meters...sent one of their customers his test strips to the Astrodome,in Houston..where he was evacuated...Prior to Hurricane Katrina, he could only get his strips through his doctor's office to get the assistance to EVEN obtain them...but, with the Hurricane, his Doctor's office was under 15 feet of water!

Another thing that especially concerns me is WHY wasn't there ANY pre-planning IN CASE OF something like this happening to the Gulf Coast area- Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi??? They KNEW that the levy couldn't withstand something like what happened. They also knew that it would be disasterous, if not a catastrophe for the people...and that it would be a crisis. WHY wasn't some sort of plan in place to implement, why wasn't there ANY pre-preparation done? WHY did those people have to wait almost a week before help came? WHY did so many people have to die so senselessly because the Government had their fingers up their asses, enjoying their cushy little lives...while SO many suffered...lived in Third World squallor and in such a substandard, inhumane manner, while the big wigs were sitting back enjoying their Mansions, Prime Rib, Beluga Caviar,Foie Gras, and champagne.....While those people were going with out even the basics??? It's ALL about money...all about race..all about thinning out the poor, sick, undesireable...just so the rich man can have more!!!! Argh....

You have NO clue how badly I wanted to just reach through the TV set and bitch Slap Bush in hopes of knocking some sense in his drunken, coke snorting brainless Thieving, cranium and then some! The ONLY reason he's displeased with it all is that it's an inconvenience to HIM, that it's going to loose his little buddies in Corporate America Billons of dollars..and,oh yeah...he has to mingle with the "Little People"...I bet that when he showered last night he scrubbed his skin till it was almost raw...trying to wash away the stench from having to contaminate himself with the stench and debilitating repulsive exposure to the poor...the working class...the ' Little People'...I can't help but notice the phony, stiff way he addressed the press last night and this morning...- It was JUST lip service..he didn't really give a damn, and would rather save ALL that Federal Government money... I just bet he was thinking, "Can't the Faith Based organizations subsidize this???" If you looked and noticed, you would see that it pained him to even utter the words to the extent that it wasn't going to take JUST one day's worth of attention...I bet THAT just ate him alive...

Whoa! Chief Justice Renquist passed away tonight, September 3,2005...in his home in Virginia...Thyroid Cancer...Wowza! He was 80!!! Apparently the KIND of Cancer he had had a survival rate of 3 to 6 months. He was diagnosed this past October, and died this evening.Renquist lived 10 months after diagnosis....and that was even with having the surgery for it. Apparently, his wife is deceased, his children grown. Pretty much all that was left in his life was the Court, and being Chief Justice in his last years...I guess his peers saw him as "The Lone Ranger".Even was given a Lone Ranger action figure!Interesting that Chief Justice Renquist was one of the Supreme Court Justices that helped decide Roe vs. Wade...but, voted against it- a conservative...So, wow! Yet another passing that was a fabric of my somewhat young American life..( I don't know if 37 is young...*shrugs*)...Peter Jennings.and now Cheif Justice Renquist??? Wowza! I Just hope that it doesn't happen in three's...- if so, I almost shudder to even ponder who could be next- Jennings- THIS generation's Walter Kronkite, now Cheif Justice Renquist....Who's next???? Or do I wanna know???

Rest in peace, Mr. Chief Supreme Court Justice....
Nita

Donnie Whithun's drug bust...Just up the street from my house! Say what?!?!

Yes! You read that right! We had the WPD on our block again...Donnie Whithuhn got busted for growing dope in his back yard! Just last month he was raising hell, threatening families, and little kids.Throwing beer bottles at people's houses and vehicles..including my next door neighbor's daughter and her two boys! I'm sure I've mentioned Diego and Dakota? ( Probably two of my absolute favorite children on the planet!) Diego's 10, Dakota's 9...Absolute cuties, sweeties..and generally splendid kids, in my opinion! (No lie! Those two are SO cute...to the extent that you'd just want to pluck 'em up, and hug the stuffings out of them!- they're THAT cute..and such great kids!) I'll have to catch them out playing sometime...and sneak pics of 'em...

Anyway, apparently another neighbor saw dope plants lurking over Donnie's privacy fence...The police found OVER 20 PLANTS! ranging between 8 to 12 feet tall!!!! Anyway, I guess the WPD couldn't nail them for dealing or whatever..but, they DID get nailed for cultivation and Possession! Dad had had Cataract surgery that day...so, I wasn't outside much...so, I missed ALL the to-do...with the Police and KAKE being just up the street...I agree with what Laurie told KAKE...that it's high time Donnie had to pay consequences for his actions, even if the stuff DOES happen while he's either skunk drunk or stoned out of his mind! Enough is enough! This sort of thing is NOT normal for our block! Normally, it's VERY quiet...and very laid back! I really think that if it was anyone BUT Donnie, they'd get nailed damn quick...I still haven't figured out WHY Donnie seems to be the exception to the rule...And, frankly, I'm NOT at all sure I'd even want to know. Truthfully, I'm content to sit on my front porch, crochet hook in hand, and watch the fireworks...Provided that the shit doesn't go down in MY front yard! Like it did last summer...Apparently Donnie's shack up girlfriend beat the holy crap out of Donnie. He called the police. When they arrived, she began fighting and resisting them...ended up that she TRIED brawling with them in MY front yard. Thank God, I had Molly in the house. Anyway, it ended up taking SIX , count 'em...SIX Wichita Police Department squad cars and a WPD Paddy wagon to haul her away while trying to brawl with them in my front yard! heh heh...Suffice it to say we were ALL out there watching like Cops had came to Wichita to catch our Finest doing their jobs- protecting the citizenry of Wichita,Kansas. And, nah...Cops wasn't there that night,either....Just like they weren't there Tuesday night,But,KAKE was! ( Which was bogus! Now, if it was KSN...I'd have been literally HOT that I wasn't out being nosey watching it for myself...but, hey! I got priorities! Dad needed me...So...ya know how that business goes!) Hee hee...now you know my local news loyalties...if it ain't on KSN, it's NOT news worthy...Geez! Just HOW many times did KAKE bugger the BTK news, and report BTK stuff that wasn't accurate, clear and factual??? Case in point! Hellooooo!!!! KSN rocks! Ooooh...and did I mention...at least for me, KSN's way of doing the news comes across as "The thinking man's (or woman's) news source..." especially when they get their expert commentator thing going...I mean,hellooo....that's prime brain candy...especially with how they handled covering the BTK stuff...Go KSN!!!!!! (They didn't report it until they knew FOR SURE what they were telling their viewers was the truth! Not a crap load of sensational, half baked bra and panties stuff! With out it being proven fact from their sources, or from the DA's office, or WPD themselves...or even Sheriff Steed!)

Totally deserved and totally cool side note- the Wichita Police Department has been winning awards for their work on the BTK Case. Namely being awarded for their work on the BTK Case- being THE Forensic Case of the year! Go WPD!!!!!!! Give 'em hell!!!!!

Then again, I think they SHOULD get the Led out, and dispense with dealing with Donnie, JUST like they did with the "Parasite"! Let Nola come forth with the goodies, and shut his butt down, and then some! It's enough already...what's it gonna take? Donnie up for First Degree Murder Charges??? - That's what I'm REALLY starting to think..that it's going to take THAT before the WPD gets fires lit under their asses, and does something about it, to shut Donnie down! Geez!!!! Enough, already!!!

Nita

<link rel='related' href='http://www.kake.com/home/headlines/1799847.html' title='Donnie Whithun's drug bust...Just up the street from my house! My blog is worth $220.00 of their Blogshare dollars!

Here's the link:
My Blogshares Listing

Accompanied by my outgoing Links:
1. Blogger
2. Crochet
3. Crochet by the Hook
4. Faery Crafty
5. Tiff Crochets

HUGE thank you's and shout outs for the five listed!

Okay..so I'm being overly concerned, and overly curious to see if my blog's made ANY of the big search engines..so far, Google and Dogpile...I'm just curious to see what kind of net exposure this is getting... I'm the first to admit I'm slow on the uptake..in terms of figuring computer related things out. Took me forever to figure out how to go into my template and begin adding all those fun, wonderful things to click on, and facilitate interaction between those who read this, and myself...When it comes to scripting/coding/html...I'm TOTALLY lost! Forget about me writing html on a blank bit of notepad...I do good to cut and paste! LOL...oh! and the photos? Well..Photobucket helps me cheat by providing the html for me! With out that, my blog would probably be VERY lame, and very boring..with out the visuals, and all those fun things to click on! LOL...Which is why I don't have a button to share with you- I'm clueless at PSP.But, if I did..I promise! I'd share it if I had it....Which is why I don't have a calendar up,either..if it's not cut and paste html, you're probably not going to see it here! In terms of blogging and all the add ons, I need ALL the help I can get! ( As in cut and paste!) So, now you know why I don't have many of those nifty, really cool looking buttons up- you know..the kind you click on to take you to whatever site or whatever blog kind of thing? Yeah, those. So, now you know just how..almost computer and html illiterate I am! I do good to get on line, copy and paste...and reload the page...oh yeah..and run my big mouth, in addition to!....so, in quoting Paul Harvey, "Now you know the rest of the story!" ....

In Honor of WIP Wednesdays

This is the winter hat and scarf I'm in the process of making for one

of my favorite children..my next door neighbor's grandson, Dakota

James..who JUST happens to be an absolute sweetie, and too cute for his

own good! (Okay, so I'm biased!!! But, still, it's the truth!) .

Humorous side note: Dad had NEVER saw me attempt a scarf before, so, he

was like, "Okay, Nita, what's that going to be" I replied, "A scarf.

Why, Dad?" he replied, "I've never seen you do one of those. And,what's

with the yarn? Why does it look like Abbey's kittens have been playing

with it?" I then had to explain that Lion Brand Homespun is made

that way...Which Dad totally didn't get, mind you..and yes, he wanted to

get touchy feely with it...So, hey...gave Dad his way..I don't think he

liked it...and made it clear he liked the feel of acrylic worsted

better...LOL...I guess in that,too, I'm my Dad's daughter!

Anyway, if anyone's curious as to what colors in homespun I'm using for

it- It's the Montana Sky, and the Rococo. ( Did I spell that right???

Geez...can we say Nita's brain dead today??) As for the

start of the hat next to it, the pattern came from one of those tear

away patterns you get at Wal Mart at the fabric cutting table..they

have 'em in a wicker basket...at least my Wal Mart does. I'm having a

devil of a time finding an ombre/variagated to coordinate with the Lion

Brand Pound of Love in Denim I used to start it. ( I tried Wal Mart's

Mainstays in Blue Ridge..the color tones were ALL off...Tried RH Super

Saver's Stars and Stripes..again, the color tones were ALL wrong and

wonky.. Shaded Dusk didn't work either...So, if Caron Perfect Match in

Country Basket doesn't work..I'm in deep doo doo! *sighs* and it would

be just MY luck, too! Go figure!)

Below: This is the auspicious start of a diagonal shell afghan. I got

the pattern from "Debpowergirl's" website...I'm simply doing as she

suggested, using black to tie in all the various scrap

ombre/variagateds I'm using...So far, to the best of my knowledge

that's all RH Super Saver...

Below: Is the start of Dot's Cluster Craze Scarf. (I tried tackling the matching hat, but, apparently I misread the pattern...and frogged it. Deciding to attempt the scarf first. Don't ask me why, but, when attempting to tackle a 'new' pattern stitch, I always seem to figure out how it works more quickly if crocheted flat...rather in hat style...) I'm none too sure WHO is the lucky recipent for this one. It all depends on what size the hat works up to be...More than likely one of my cousins' kids...Probably Crystal..my cousin Cindy's oldest daughter...she's living with my Aunt Ann and Uncle Leonard while she goes to college. (I'm not sure if she's going to BBC, where Uncle Leonard used to be a Professor, or if she's attending the Community College/ two year college where my uncle is currently a Professor...I'm pretty sure it's one of the two..) Don't ask why, but, with the way it's working up, it just screams "This needs to be Crystal's.." and YES! Kari, you nailed it...this particular hat and scarf set of Dot's DOES "Rock Out Loud!" In fact if it works up as pretty as it's looking, JUST three rows into it...I daresay, I'll be making a few more sets..for my second cousins.(So far..I have the yarn to do Cristy's...in the Country Blue in the Simply Soft. With her coloring, and that blonde hair of hers...I think that's the BEST color choice for her.I've also got the black...that's being saved back till I get another skein for Cathy's daughter Kristin. Not at all sure what color Joni's Tori's getting, Cathy's other daughter becky's getting, either. Or Cindy's other daughter, Candace.Geez! I'm shot out when I can't decide. Absolutely detest that when it happens, too!) I think the only difference will be that I intend to make the scarf a little wider than the 4.75 inches Dot specified in her pattern...By the way, I used Caron Simply Soft in White, rather than the Bone that Dot specified in her pattern...(Either way, the sheer feminine, simplistic beauty of the design shows through!) Big confession here, I ABSOLUTELY love deceptively simple patterns that scream understated elegance- like THIS one does! You go Dot!!!!

Above: These are baby items that I began crocheting while watching the BTK sentencing hearing last week. Now, don't ask WHY I reached for baby yarn...and fun fur...but, I did...Maybe I wanted to create something that could be seen as a celebration of new life...in honor of those lost to such a depraved, parasitic bully with brains God failed to give a goose?? Or maybe it was just a Genita style brain fart??? I question my sanity on that one, actually...even IF I thought it an inspired stroke of genius to trim off that baby hat with the fun fur! LOL...Okay, for those items I used:
1. For the baby hat- Bernat Baby softee in pink... I don't remember WHICH fun fur color I used...but, it's mostly purple with some pink in it...( The pattern was off of Bev's Country Cottage website ..Judith Pringle's easy baby hat..)
2. The baby sweater- again, Bernat Baby softee in pink..The pattern was off Celtwich's Vintage Crochet site..the Doreen layette set..dated 1943..I'm only as far in as getting ready to do the "Foundation Row."
3. The Round Ripple Baby ghan: I THINK that's the 'Ripples of Comfort' pattern...(Not totally sure..with out digging out the pattern...) I used Red Heart Baby soft...in Laddy Print- both the old- that was just the sky blue, lime green, and banana yellow..the new version of their Laddy Print that's mostly white with tiny bits of the blue, yellow and green, and the sky blue...

phew....I figured I'd do the explanations a little different this time...sometimes people are interested in WHICH patterns and yarns used....- guess it catches people's eyes or something...so, there's MY attempt at doing it that way!

Happy WIP Wednesday....

Nita

February 26,2180...Earliest Possible Release Date for "The Parasite"

I'd heard on the news last night that "The Parasite"/ BTK was finally entered into the Kaspar Database at the Kansas Department of Corrections Website...boy was it ever..Apparently The Parasite can't even go before the Parole Board until 2180...yup..basically 175 years! He claims to have no religion, and was once a grand painter in Venice, before his happiness was destroyed by a Satanist Roman coven. Okay, I honestly admit, I wanted to hear and see the evidence that would've been presented at the trial. That is, if there was going to be a trial. But, with The BTK pleading out, there wasn't going to be a trial. While it was one thing to hear the "G Rated" version of it in Rader's confession when he plead guilty on June 27th. It was utterly yet something else, then again, to watch that proufoundly disturbing 2 hour long Dateline special last week. For me, it was as if each time there were new revelations, it was more than I wanted or needed to know. Yet, like the rest of my hometown, if not the nation, I was transfixed, and captivated...There were so many questions that needed answering. And, it was going to be the District Attorney's office, and her staff that were going to provide the answers at the sentencing hearing. Like with the Carr Brothers' murder trial in 2002, I was more than patient to wait and see just what kind of Smack-Down Nola was going to give Dennis Rader...Just like she and her staff had given the Carr Brothers! Boy did she ever! Her staff was equally as awesome with it,too! What can I say? The DA's office in my home town, Wichita,Kansas SO totally Rocks!!!!! So does the WPD... To my way of thinking, it doesn't get much better than what I saw in that court room...Nola Foulston and her team, along with WPD issuing some hellacious Smack Down to Rader!

I'm glad that KSN had the decency and enough honor and morals NOT to show those photographs in the Power Point Presentation that Nola Foulston and her team showed Judge Waller, and those present in the court room. ( I could really care less if it was Janet Jackson's disgusting, immoral display of her anatomy that prompted the FCC to instigate and put into law the new guidelines that made it possible. As far as I am concerned, it was just added goodies and benefit OF that law the FCC put into place! In Preparation FOR the entire BTK thing, in my opinion...AND, no, I don't even think they had ANY clue that was what they were doing! But, they did! And, that's ALL that matters. So, as much as I hate to even say it...I should probably thank Janet Jackson...and am VERY glad to thank the FCC!) Anyway, the reason I say that is, that I think it's morally wrong, and indecent to EVEN want to see those photos. Let's face it and get real, those people Rader killed were refused ANY dignity in their deaths. As if the circumstances, mechanics, reasons behind their deaths weren't enough, the sheer depravity, cowardice, sadism, and sheer vilification and disrespect of human life was MORE than enough of a violation...and what it did to their families. I definitely was NOT going to add to that, by violating the victims and their survivors any further by looking at the photographs. I have TOO much respect for the victims, and their families to shame, humilliate and disrespect them like that! - I was raised a hell of a lot better than that, thank you! And to even WANT to see those photos isn't just wrong, it's down right immoral, indecent and wrong...- It would mean that I have NO respect for the dead, and NO respect for the survivors. Both the victims and survivors have been violated, hurt, and been tortured enough Which I do...I have profound respect for the dead..and have a deep abiding profound respect for the survivors, too. . I NEVER want to add to it! In any way, shape,or form. I wish to god there was a way I could help them heal. A way I could help build them up,and show that I care, and am hurting right along with them! But, I have absolutely NO clue how I could accomplish that with out over stepping any boundaries and the like.

If I were to reaccount in my own words what I saw, what I heard..what I felt or thought...I would only be rubbing salt in open, oozing wounds that have festered entirely TOO long. So, I won't. I honestly doubt that my simple words will mean anything in the long haul, or much in terms of the big picture. But, that is something I'll risk and venture, anyway. (Okay, so, I REALLY am my father's daughter...forthright,honest, and outspoken to a fault! And, goodness knows, I'm going to more than once in life stuff my foot in my mouth! It's happened before, and will probably happen again!- With my rotten atrocious luck, that is! I wonder if it's EVEN physically possible??!) No, really, let's get back to business...Okay, like I said, it's a fruitless, futile effort that's NOT going to yield diddley squat , let alone anything worthwhile if I were to reaccount what is a matter of court record at the Sedgwick County Courthouse, out of Judge Waller's court...so, I won't. It's NOT even worth the effort or brain strain to attempt it. So, I'll put it like this- What I, personally got out of it was the following:
1. Dennis Rader is a bullying, cowardly, Parasite on Society.
2. It is MY personal opinion that with the disclosure of testimony durring the sentencing hearing, that Dennis Lynn Rader is some sick, twisted, perverse cross and version of the Marquise De Sade, and those responsible for creating and opperating the Nazi Death Camps in World War 2. ( For all we know, the Marquise De Sade is eager for Radar Westerfield/ Dennis Rader to join him in the afterlife...they could be best friends...buddies,friends and pals! Entirely possible...that is IF Satan would allow such a thing!!!!? Who knows. I'm glad I don't!...And, who is to say that Hess wouldn't have enjoyed having a friend in the next cell over in Spandau...Or any of the other Nazi war criminals?? Either would've been fitting punishments, if not totally possible or realistic! I mean really...Hess, the Nazi war criminals and the Marquise De Sade are all dead...and probably roasting in hell at this point...- Good place for Rader, wouldn't you say? I know I do!) - Truth of the matter is my personal opinon doesn't mean diddly squat in the final analysis...I'm just a High School Graduate with a learning disability....
3. That I saw simple heart felt words paint such beautiful things in each of the victims' impact statements in court, Thursday afternoon. A testiment to the beauty of spirit,humanity...done with such simplistic elegance, eloquence, grace, courage, and strength. In each beautiful face, I saw a testament of the sheer beauty of life...of mankind. In each of those oh so beautiful faces, and in their simple heart felt words, I saw potraits and testaments of grace, courage, a simplistic elegance laced with an understated dignity and strength. The REASON life is beautiful...I saw ALL that in those people. Heroes.Legends. The reason WHY life can be a gorgeous thing! - That is what I choose to remember about BTK...Not Rader. Not the depraved things he did, thought, and planned to do...But, the testaments and portaits of beauty I saw in each of their faces, and the beauty each of their words painted for the world to see!

The light and beauty in their words and in their faces chased away the dark shaddows, and the smoke only to reveal a meglomaniac, a despot...Wichita Kansas' Marquise De Sade....only to reveal beautiful people with beautiful faces with equally beautiful souls..revealing testaments of courage, grace, intelligence, eloquence, finesse, style and class...Charlie Otero's beautiful, simple worlds with a blazing pride in who his Mom and Dad were, the loved, cherrished memories of Josie and Joey...Carmen's speaking out, being her mother's daughter, speaking out in HER voice...She IS her Mother's voice...So eloquent, classy and beautiful...inside and out...a true, grand lady! Jeff Davis' righteously indignant discourse...so eloquent, so strong, intelligent, honest and forthright...Mrs. Davis must have been a miracle and wonder of all wonders on the face of earth...Nancy Fox's sibblings simple words, and Beverly's tears and outraged words...Kevin Bright's simple words rang so true, simple, and heart wrenching...a strong, quiet man's simple words and angquish for his sister were beautiful too... Mrs. Hedge's son in law's so simple, brief words were like nails in one's soul...how they must have suffered to, yet stood brave and strong in the face of such opposition and suffering...yet the utter beauty couldn't help but shine forth...Mrs. Davis' daughter's words had me weeping like a baby...as if it was Mrs. Davis herself speaking beyond her grave...of her hopes, her dreams, her cherished memories of the last time her family was gathered and the joyous time they had..the laughter, love, and joy in being together as a family. Just as the Wegerle's words had me weeping...yes, indeed, no sentence imposed could satisfy the level of justice needed to equal what was raped of them...what it stole from them. Brandon's silence spoke volumes,too...the look in that young man's eyes said it all...the broken agony, yet also the sheer beauty of his spirit, his courage and strength...I'm sure his Momma's in heaven watching over him with extreme pride...pumping her fist shouting "Yes! You go Brandon!" Just as I'm sure that she's equally watching over her Stephanie, and those grandbabies of hers..wishing to God there was a way she could take her four year old grandson in her arms, and tell him, 'Hey, baby, Meemaw's here...I haven't gone anywhere, I'm right here with you ! I've never really gone away, and never will..I'm always with you..I see it all through your eyes, even if I'm not physically there to share it all with you...I see all those drawings..and they're really very good!" She probably even wants to take her son and daughter and hug the both of you close and never let go...just like they never want to let them go...- just like all the other mothers that mad man took from her children...You didn't do anything....Neither did your children...Brandon or your Dad, Stephanie. You just keep on brave soldiering it...It's not easy, but, it CAN be done..you're already doing it- with style, aplomb and infinite courage laced with grace! ..You NEVER did anything to merit or deserve what happened to you. You just keep on holding your head high, and proud..you just keep on being who your Mom raised you to be...show your kids the way you were shown....do her proud...(I've just told you basically what my Dad, Grandma, Aunts,Uncles, and cousins told me over the years after my Mom died of brain cancer...- they've stood me well all these years. I hope they stand you as well as they have done me...-sometimes things like that can give strength and comfort in some small way.) You don't know just HOW badly I wish that your loved ones could have had a normal, natural death instead of what they got.Or how I wish there was something I could do or say to make it easier for you, comfort you, even in some small way..I don't even know if anyone is even going to read this...but, I hope that it lends some measure of comfort..and care...and, I equally hope and pray that it doesn't make it hurt worse- that's the last thing I'd want. You've all hurt enough!

The gentle time worn lines and burning indignant anger and suffering I saw in Mr. Vian's face, and that of Stephen Relford's face was heartbreaking too, yet there was SUCH strength, beauty and courage. It was truly an amazing thing...yet you have no clue that it was there...It was. I saw it! I even saw it in Danny Otero's face,too...Strength,courage, grace, SO determined to take something so horrendously bad..and make something astonishingly beautiful of it...It takes someone SO incredibly special to do something like that...It really does! This is what I choose to remember from the BTK Hearing...Not Rader.. I choose the survivors...They are all Survivors..Beautiful suvivors...Never Victims...To say they are victims is to say that they are weak...- and that would be a bald faced lie! The utter truth of it is they are ALL beautiful...Beautiful survivors! A lavish, oppulent potrait of WHY life can be beautiful and precious...It only takes eyes to see it, and ears to hear it...and the wisdom to understand that is precisely what was seen in that court room...and I, definitely saw it...and I am blessed to have had the opportunity to witness their beauty, bravery, grace, courage, and strength...I thank them for their generosity in sharing that .

Thank you,once again.
And, well...the title of his post says it all- I'm profoundly disturbed BY the Profoundly Disturbed. As if the open admission in in court, at the Courthouse downtown wasn't alarming, distressing, and stomach turning enough...this ranks RIGHT up there. First and foremost, I cannot blame Mrs.Rader for filing for her Emergency Divorce two weeks ago. Just as I can't blame the rest of that odious man's family for not dropping in at the County Jail to see the BTK. Radar Westerfield. Dennis Rader. What I find irreprehensible is the fact that the man who served as his family's pastor evidently though it more prudent to minister to the Serial Killer than the family that in essence were his final victims! Mrs. Rader and her children. An utterly disgusting show of Patriarchy and Misogyny at it's finest. Not to mention a TOTAL disregard for family. While I can't slam the Lutheran Church, as my late cousin Brad was Lutheran...- I won't go there.

Okay. Back to my thoughts and reactions to the Dateline thing. I thought it rather appropriate that Radar was rather neatly cuffed and in a belly chain while in his Sedgwick County Orange! Go Sherriff Steed! You rock, buddy! For all we know Radar could've killed Dr. Mendoza or something to that effect if not properly chained. Call me a little green and backward..in so far as my inability to understand why not so "Vanilla " Sexual practices..okay..Bondage in specifics...Forced Power exchange could be linked together and bingo! Let's commit murder so I can get my rocks off sort of thing! Let's kill Mommy and Daddy and make the kids watch! A nine year old and an eleven year old...THEN have the gall and temerity to hang that little girl, Josie Otero by the neck till dead in her parents basement, THEN wanking on her after the fact?!

Okay..at least for me THE NEW revelation about this sack of feces...is that for him- he seemed to get off MORE on the stalking, then aftermath...meaning, the trolling/stalking part got him hot and bothered...then AFTER he killed 'em..that REALLY got him off?! I'm sorry but that's TOO profoundly disturbing for me,actually! Major squick factor there! Sorry..but, I DO Have sensibilities and THAT totally goes beyond anything that isn't offensive. It's BEYOND offensive! Hell, what he's done to ALL ten victims and their families goes beyond the pale and beyond offensive in my opinion!

Again, the comment was made about his lack of emotion in expressing what he had done when he plead out, in Judge Waller's Courtroom...Perhaps I didn't QUITE pay attention due to the surreal, "Oh my god. Is this REALLY Happening" feeling that oozed out of my being and pretty much had my mind stuptified with shock and the surreal reality of what I was seeing...that I didn't see what the former KAKE News Director saw while HE watched Radar's court appearance- the emotion, the thought process as he paused to string his words together, the sometimes 'nervous' ambiance around him, ect. I saw none of that...But,maybe it was there for all I know! (And, I'm not saying the hottie was a liar, either!) But what REALLY got me...was that it was a performance. It was show time...I suppose for all intents and purposes, intially, I don't think Radar expected Judge Waller to ask such deeply probing questions, beyond the bare minimum that his Defense team prepared for him. Perhaps, initially, he was broadsided with that cropping up. But, looking back in retrospect, and putting the peices of the puzzle together..a VERY minute part of the puzzle...yes, I'd say it was "Baby, it's Showtime!" for Rader...and he was eating it up! Devouring the attention..while not just Wichita's eyes were on him, but the entire world's!

There is something else I don't know QUITE what to make of...and that was the comraderie that Radar Westerfield purportedly had with Law Enforcement when they apprehended him on Kechi Road/ 61st. Street Access Road...( the road he'd take to get on I 35 North.) Being buddy buddy. Cracking jokes..yada yada yada...Please! Anyone with half a brain would know that the Police are damn good at playing mind games to get what they want out of a suspect if they've got the goods and KNOW how to play a suspect to get an arrest at the very least, if not a killer confession- er...bad pun...but, I'm sure you get what I mean! Like Chief Lamunyon said, those officers were hand picked, and skilled at playing Radar's game after thrity one years of investigating the idiot! Most probably it was his ego, and overfed, overblown arrogance that made THAT part of it SO much easier for Wichita PD. Okay, SO Radar was a freakin' dog catcher...in a VERY loose sense Law Enforcement...( His Degree in Criminal Justice aside..- So what if he knows the lingo, terminology, and has some semblance of knowledge about Criminal Justice..betcha dollars to Winchell's Doughnuts he didn't keep his degree up to date!) Doesn't make him one of the good ol' boys...NOT after what HE did...(No really, in all honesty, I think everything he did post High School Graduation, educational wise, and career wise began preparing him for becoming BTK, and like the Former News Director Hottie says- he was ALSO a student- one that studied Serial Killers past and present. )- Now, that's the damn scary part of it...Getting the degree in Criminal Justice gave him, to an extent an edge that other Serial killers don't have...- knowledge of HOW Law Enforcement works. The knowledge needed to be able to evade arrest and capture as long as he did. Being a Butcher at Leeker's..knife skills...think Katharyn Bright...The Military...he probably learned how to operate in a cloak and dagger fashion to an extent..Probably learned A LOT about tying knots and tying people up in the Military, amongst other things...His positions at ADT, the Census Bureau, and Coleman gave him access to people's homes and vital information needed in that regard to help troll/stalk his victims. - The only thing that was missing, basically was the power, control, tying people up, bondage, torture, and the psychological torture kind of thing- he couldn't push people around on the RIGHT side of the law...THAT'S where his position as "Denny the Doggy Catcher" was perfect, he could go to work, and get paid for pushing people around, bullying them, torturing animals...and controlling others! Making them obey HIM, basically..he had the law on his side...hence..no more murders..Although, I DO think it's more than a little disturbing that he actually admitted to the Psychologist that there were A LOT of lucky people..meaning no telling who all were targeted to be "Projects"...It terrifies me to think that my family, or even myself could've been one of them! (While it would make me fighting mad if he dared try it on Dad,Molly, and I....)

I'm still a little too stunned and mortified with the notion that he thought that the investigation against him was something to play games with...- and DID in fact treat it like a game! I'm frankly astonished, flabbergasted..and really, I don't know quite what to think of that one..let alone some of the rather disturbing photography of the packages..particularly the package that had that PJ doll in it...done up BTK style..They also showed Nancy Fox's Driver's license. She had VERY pretty Penmenship, I think..and was a pretty lady herself, too! A pretty blonde lady! Okay, I knew about the word find puzzle. I've got a printed off copy of that...But, what I wanna still see is the evidence that came out of that shed, and the contents of that floppy disc that was traced back to Radar himself...

It was more than a little unnerving to see Rader break down in tears...but, really pretty disgusted and NOT suprised that those tears weren't for anyone but himself... Although, I suspect that he is under the delusion that those tears are also for his family...and oh! Waaaaaah..He needs to get over it! He's got no one to blame but himself for the fact he's not going to get any huggles from his adult kids...and the wife isn't around to kiss his ass and give him a little nookie if ol' boy's up for it...I bet THAT was quite some chore for her...or then again..I betcha there wasn't much nookie to be had in that house hold...seeing as Radar can't get it up unless he's up and killed someone after tying them up and torturing them! I thought it was rather telling that part of the reason he didn't kill anyone else THIS go around was because physically he wasn't up to it anymore? And if he did, it would have to be someone elderly that couldn't fight back! Would it be appropriate to say Once a Bully , always a Bully??? (That's what he sounds like to me!)

I couldn't be any more elated that the families of the ten victims have filed civil suits against him- with the intent of him NEVER making a dime off of what he's done- his crimes..and atrocities against his victims, their families, and the Citizens of Wichita Kansas...An amusing..if not..well..a little almost alarming but comical side note..a few weeks ago, the Rader family's former residence in Park City was Auctioned off, and was bought by the owner of a local Strip bar here, Michelle's Beachhouse"- anyway they have these cheezy assed commercials that air on local tv durring Late Night TV hours. She bought the house, appraised at $56,000 dollars for $90,000..- Okay, first off her gesture was a noble one, despite the sordid, rather, well...tacky immoral business she's in...owning a strip/ tit bar...and I suppose she DOES make damn good money...if she can afford to buy a house in Park City well over what it was appraised as...AND afford those cheezy ass tacky commercials...for pedding flesh, tits, and ass! But, in a perverse, twisted way it IS poetic justice, in so far as a Strip Bar Denigrades women...what Rader largely did in his criminal career didn't just denigrade women, it denigraded human life and mankind in general...- Now that isn't saying what both of them did and continues to do is right, or anything..it's not..but, I'm just saying there's a twisted, convoluted, perverted sense of poetic justice about it...Just like I can't really blame the neighbors in that area in Park City for NOT being happy campers about it...quoting one of them, "It's like exchanging one freak show for another!"

Okay, SO, I had one of my curiosities taken care of- wanting to know the content of any footage or text about the session that Radar had with Dr. Mendoza..and got FAR more than I expected to say the least. I understand that there's a client/ Psychologist privacy clause at hand- we'll likely never know what conclusions or findings Dr. Mendoza himself had.. at least not at this point, unless Radar gives the release...or the good doctor releases it to the press..his findings, that is! However what I did find especially interesting was that guy they had on that Ms.Magnum interviewed the Profiler guy. I didn't catch his name..but, what HE had to say was VERY interesting to me! And, I agree with him...he probably more than nailed it!

I honestly never once thought there would come the day that I would find anything intriguing about the BTK case...but, now, I can't honestly say that anymore. What's got me SO curious is the evidence that our District Attorney, Nola Foulston and her team of Prosecutors,Ms. Parker and Mr O'Connor are going to put on at the Sentencing Hearing Wednesday! I've heard tell that it COULD take up to THREE days to put on ALL the evidence! Now, thing is, will Judge Waller go for something like that??? Also, I darn well wanna know what was all in those storage tubs they took out of Park City's City Hall, out of the Rader residence, out of Radar's shed...the contents of that floppy disc, and other package contents that weren't released into the media???

After seeing a picture of Mrs. Rader...I really think she looks like any other average older lady in South Central Kansas..nothing really distinguishes her or sets her apart from the other ladies in her age group. Maybe someday soon, she'll be able to just melt into the sea of humanity, get on with her life, and all this BTK stuff will be like an an extremely distant nightmare...- but, I also hope for her sake she gets the distance, time away, and healing she needs to make a healthy, productive life for herself in spite of what she's gone through because of her former husband! That's ONE lady that has my respect and admiration for her courage, strength, and willingness to make the best of a bad situation, and get in the face of the opposition in a private, yet utterly classy way, apparently! Then again, I also have respect for her grown children- how strong they've had to be...dealing with all this! Especially their daughter...just knowing it was HER DNA that helped the police arrest her father , and expose his dirty secrets that destroyed their lives and their families. I hope the adult Rader children can also get the healing, distance, and time away for what has to be hell on earth for the both of them!

Again, it rolls around to being summed up by being profoundly disturbed BY the Profoundly Disturbed!!!

Nita

Lighter Subject matter...meaning more fun news...

Whooohoo!!! I had an ROAK in the mail today! A Random Act of Kindness.. A baby mile a minute pattern book! For those of you who aren't in the know...Mile A minutes are afghans that are done in strips. Long, narrow strips/panels. (Half a Mile a Minutes are the same principle.. only difference is that the strips are wide and short, basically.) Either way you do up several trips- could be as few as six, or as many as sixteen! Once you get the pattern down, they're really easy to make! Spectacular results!

On top of everything else, I went and got stupid and started TWO more ghans, A round Ripple..( Ripples of comfort), and Debpowergirl's Diagonal..hey, I had to try out the new shapes, okay? LOL..I mean really stripes and Granny Squares get old after so long!

Anyway, as soon as I get the new pics downloaded off the camera, I'll come back and edit this post to display 'em...I promise! Speaking of which, Dad was generous enough to spring for replacing my digital camera. ( Once he found out that I was getting one of the cheapo Digital cameras...( Meaning the blister packed ones...Not the ones in the locked up display case at Wal Mart.) I got the same kind of camera as I had before- a Vivitar Vivi Cam 35. ( the $20 one at Wallie World.)

Okay..BTK news..Yeah, I know..enough already, right? Well...apparently some how, some way, the media ( NBC) got their hot little paws on the video tape of Dr. Robert Mendoza's visit/session with Dennis Rader. Anyway, it's going to be a two hour special on Dateline tonight...Of course I'm going to watch it...and will have plenty to say about it? ( Something would be massively wrong if I wasn't talking about something, bitching, or getting on the soap box pontificating! - It's just one of those quirky things that makes me Nita, I guess...) Truth of it is, I'm VERY curious as to just WHAT is going to be on this video tape on Dateline tonight! I read a TINY bit of the excurpt...apparently he was planning on A LOT more murders...more people were going to die at his hand! He said it himself, "There are A LOT of lucky people.." Notice, he said A LOT...not just a FEW...I don't know about you, that's enough to have this Kansas born woman feeling lucky...but..maybe not as bad assed and lucky as Clint Eastwood when he was doing the Dirty Harry movies, mind you...A girl has her limits and boundaries! Well..at least this one does, at any rate.

Okay food...ooh yes..everyone likes food...Tried Rachael Ray's Lemon Garlic Rosemary Roasted chicken...I wasn't impressed. I think I like her Honey Lime Grilled chicken sandwiches TONS better! Her Turkey Cranberry bog burgers were REALLY good...yummo! as she says. ( Have to agree..BUT, I like her Sirloin Mushroom Swiss, Portobello burgers with Balsalmic Mayonaise better, though. THOSE are awesome!) Still SO lovin' the Tilapia foil packets..

Here's the recipe-
Tilapia packets

2 Tilapila Filets ( the frozen cheap kind from Aldi's. $3.99 a bag.. Enough for 4 meals!)
Heavy duty foil ( Reynold's wrap or generic)
Extra Virgin olive oil
Kosher salt
Fresh black pepper from a Pepper Mill
Frozen Bell Pepper blend- small amount.
2 cloves of garlic, minced.

Preheat oven to 350. Place each thawed fish fillet on a sheet of heavy duty foil, drizzle with Extra virgin Olive Oil. Sprinkle 1 clove each of fresh garlic all over the fish, season with kosher salt and fresh cracked black pepper. Spinkle random peices of red, yellow, and green bell pepper and a bit of onion from the frozen bell pepper stir fry mix. Fold each filet on foil into a packet. Put on cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes
Note: if doing 2 fillets per packet, add 5 to 10 minutes to the baking time. This is especially good with Rachael Ray's Cheese Orzo, and About. com's English Pea Salad!

As for going out to eat? I tried that new Pizza Buffet in Seneca Square. Cici's..it's not bad! I really liked the Pepperoni and Jalepeno Pepper Pizza, and the BBQ Pizza! However, I wasn't suprised to learn that I didn't much care for the spinach Pizza..but, hey! Try everything at least ONCE! - I suppose my main complaints were that the drink glasses weren't very big- think Fast food sized 16 oz sized..and the red Pizza sauce wasn't as zesty/spicy as I like- think Papa John's or Pizza Hut! Other than that, it actually wasn't bad! Okay..so I'm spoiled...I'm addicted to Papa John's Garlic Dipping Sauce! LOL...(That stuff's double Yummo! Hellooooo!!!!!) But, my BIG new favorite taste is Buffalo chicken! Hell, even dipping french fries in Buffalo Sauce is a good thing, too! ( Then again, this is someone that likes Quik Trip's Chipoltle Sauce and Relish on her hot dogs!) What does that tell you? Hot and Spicy is a VERY good thing in my world! Anyway, in comparison to all that, dinner tonight is going to be pedestrian! Steak in the crock Pot, Mashed Garlic Herb Cheese potatoes and left over English Pea Salad...

TO be honest, I'm having a very hard time struggling with temptation about now...I can't decide if I want to belly up and go up to Starbucks and get a Java chip Frappucino. the OTHER summer treat than Cherry Limeaides from Sonic, OR do I want to go to Quik Trip and get a Chocolate Covered Cherry Smoothie??? - when I KNOW I should stay the hell home and not get either...for two express reasons- 1. Neither are good for a Diabetic- which I am...2. I should hang onto EVERY dime I've got at the moment! Then again, Fast Food's calling me,too...Nah, I think I'm going to stay home. It's TOO hot to go anywhere! *Sighs* Guess I'll behave...and find something at home to chow down on! LOL...

Nita

Don't Hate me because I am White...

Don't hate me because I am white.

You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction.
You call me "Cracker", "Honkey", "Whitey" and even "The Man" and you think it's OK.
But when I call you, "Nigger", "Kike", "Towelhead", "Sand-Nigger", "Camel Jockey", "Beaner" or "Chink" you call me a racist.

And when you play the race card it's because you think you own this country.
My forefathers founded this country, where are your forefathers from?

You say that we commit a lot of violence against you, so why are the ghettos where you live the most dangerous?

You say that you want to make a change in this country.
How? By protesting everything that we believe in?

You have Martin Luther King Day.
You have Cesar Chavez Day.
You have Yom Hashoah
You have Cinco de Mayo
You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi
If we had a Hitler Day, Nazi Day, or White Pride Day you would call us racists.

In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights.
If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.

You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it.
But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.

You call each other "Niggers", but when we call you that, you call us racists.

We work hard in school and go to college and work for prominent businesses and become successful.
Why?
So that you can go to school when you "feel" like it, do drugs and then try to steal what we have because you claim that we "keep you down".

You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us every chance you get.
But, when a white police officer shoots a gang member or beats a drug-addict up who is running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.

We have children to perserve our race.
You have have children to collect welfare so that you don't have to work.

We work hard to perserve our history.
You come along and try to re-write it.

We want a safe environment for our families and children.
You want to see us suffer by coming and polluting our neighborhoods.

I am white.
I am proud.
I am an American.

But, you call me a racist.

I found this at Stormfront.org - It was written by a lady who's Screen ID, there is Comfort Zone! If not for her generosity in sharing this at the forum, in the Lounge..I wouldn't be able to share it here! I hope this little plug works okay for the credit I promised her when I posted it here, on my blog!

I understand and realize that this sort of content can and will offend others. I could totally bitch, rant, and rave...and explicitly say WHY I totally agree with what Comfort Zone said in that exquisitely written peice she shared at Stormfront's Forum. But, I won't. I figure that what she said says it all with out becoming nasty, inflamatory, and down right offensive and vulgar. I will say this- that if White Men,women, and children DO NOT step up to the standard, and fly in the face of opposition...we will breed ourselves out of existance...commit the sins, crimes and acts of Traitors against our own. Betray our own blood for the sake of doing what's easy, NOT what is RIGHT! I can't express how proud, and glad I am that my Dad, Jack Love taught me that it's far better to do what's right, than what is easy! Just as I am glad that he cared and loved me enough to make sure I learned that keeping one's personal integrity is tantamount as a decent White Woman. Although, I am the first to admit, he ranks THIS issue as highly as he does voting appropriately....(Democrat all the way, baby!) What's more? I can't help but agree that my Dad was RIGHT, and he told the TRUTH about it, too! There are just things that decent White Women NEVER do...- boy was Dad ever right about that one!

I'm sure there are those that would dearly love to have my head off a pike off Brooklyn Bridge, the Golden Gate Bridge, or even London's Bridge for my sentiments in the matter..frankly, I don't care...I just KNOW I'm right..and no one can convince me ANY differently. I suppose the BEST way I can sum it up is that I'm SO very damned proud that I AM Jack and Genn Love's daughter..and that MY Dad loves and cared enough to teach me what it takes to be a Decent White Woman! With diligence, love, patience, care, and a firm promise...he taught me there are things decent White Women do NOT do...We do NOT race Mix, we do NOT betray our own blood...Just as we do not associate With those who condone, approve or participate in such cowardly, traitorous, immoral, filthy, acts of perversion, betrayl, cowardice, and immorality! And, by God, you WILL vote Democrat!- Especially if you're Jack Love's daughter... Which I am..and am extremely proud of the fact, mind you! Call me racist. Call me Redneck filth.Hell, even call me "Racist Redneck Trash!"..and I'll stand up and tell you, "Damn right, and I'm so VERY proud of it!Not a damn thing wrong with being honest, truthful and keeping one's personal integrity intact...can YOU honestly say you've done the same?!" - I take it as a complement, not a slur upon my character or my intristic worth as a White Woman!

The World has lost one of the best Newsmen of our Generation- Peter Jennings (1938-2005)

Okay, I'd heard that Peter Jennings had lung cancer a few months back on the news. However, I wasn't expecting to hear that he'd passed away so soon. In my family, watching the news is a big thing...at least, Dad thinks it is. ( I have to admit SOMETIMES there's some pretty interesting, educational stuff to be found on the news.) Anyway, to my mind, Peter Jennings was one of the great newsmen/journalists of this generation. Almost as far back as I can remember he was one of THE premier Anchormen or reporters covering significant world events, commentating from ABC's news studios...I don't know that he was as great as Walter Kronkite...God rest the man...however, Jennings in a sense probably was MY generation's Kronkite!

I don't know if it was because he was SO knowledgeable, or if it was just the way he presented himself/ or came across to the people watching the news. - It was reassuring to know that Mr. Jennings had his finger on the pulse of things, and could clearly tell us what was going on, what the impact was- so on and so forth! For all we know,Mr. Jennings might well be preparing for his first day on his new post...in the next world over...preparing to treat those who have gone on before us to what he so generously shared with us all these years from ABC's Studios in New York.
I can't speak for anyone else...but, I can say for myself, Mr. Jennings, you're definitely going to be missed in THESE neck of the woods! May you rest in peace, Sir.

Never really concidered THIS connection of thought and personality....(Yet another online Personality Quiz)

Cheese Pizza

Traditional and comforting.
You focus on living a quality life.
You're not easily impressed with novelty.
Yet, you easily impress others.

What's Your Pizza Personality?

Okay. Let's be totally honest here! I don't know about you, but, as for me, I have NEVER once thought about making the connection bewteen Pizza and one's personality. What I find frankly disturbing about my results is that apparently,I'm as bland and as borning as Cheese Pizza??? The one that has to add SOMETHING personal to everything I touch?? Makes no sense...But, such is life, I suppose! But, on the flip side of the coin, it's good to be conventional, traditional, comforting, yet impress others with one's simplicity??? I suppose it could be taken either way.

Last night I went up to Wal Mart for Kitten Chow for Abbey's kittens..while I was there, I also picked up a few paperbacks I'd been looking for, a pair of canvas sneaker mules (In white.) and two skeins of RH SS - one in soft navy, the other in Shaded Dusk.

Okay...personally, I can't stand Britney Spears...or that other little skanky floozy- Christina what's her name?? Not that I care...either way, I got a chuckle out of the quiz!

Other than that NOT a lot going on, at least in MY neck of the woods!

Nita

Another Online goodie....Fairly Accurate Description of me...and this blog!

Your Blogging Type is Artistic and Passionate

You see your blog as the ultimate personal expression - and work hard to make it great.
One moment you may be working on a new dramatic design for your blog...
And the next, you're passionately writing about your pet causes.
Your blog is very important - and you're careful about who you share it with.

What's Your Blogging Personality?

I really like THIS dollmaker...

Initially, when I first went online, I had gotten into doll making.

But, soon became bored with the same types of doll makers- Prep

Dolls, Silents, and Mini's. But, I DID like the Bratz style dollz. Just

couldn't find any doll makers for them. Granted the doll below isn't a

Bratz style doll. I simply like this one because it is one of the more

unique doll makers I've seen in quite some time. Doll Maker

I haven't posted in a while due to the simple fact that there really

hasn't been much to post about! Dad had Cataract Surgery last week, I

had a doctor's visit. (Typical Doctor's visit for a Diabetic.)

Partially bad, partially good....But, I'm SO thankful that I have a

medical card...With the Co-pays, I spent $12 on $122 worth of

medicine! Basically a TENTH of the regular retail cost! Also,

since I last posted, my digital camera was stolen. So, I'm not sure

WHEN I'm going to be able to replace THAT! *sighs* Okay, it was a

cheap digital camera, but, still....I'd bought it for the express

reason to post photos on my blog, to prevent having to have film

developed, THEN turn around and spend an extra three bucks on having it

all put on disc! Not to mention that $20 was really rather dear,

too!

I suppose I really SHOULD thank the ladies at

Crochetville...planting the idea in my head that I needed to find a

Round Ripple pattern! LOL..well, I DID find one. Just need to go to the

library and print it off sometime this week!

I'm utterly appalled and disgusted with those select individuals that apparently have NO respect for anyone that doesn't believe as they do. And, would go as far as to take innocent lives for the sake of those beliefs- no matter how pathological, discriminatory, and hatred filled they may be. Acts of Terrorism can't be acceptable- for any reason. Just look at all the heartache, pain, trauma, loss and hell it causes those that are effected and impacted by it. The far reaching consequences and ramifications echo far into the future- like the Oklahoma City Bombing, the events of September 11,2001, and now, THIS- What's happening in England? Well, to say the least, they're in my thoughts and prayers...

That's pretty much the latest around here...not much else to tell....

Happy stitching!

Nita

Online Quiz fetish...

The following is yet another of those fiendish online quiz thingies that can become addictive if you let it..at least it is for me.

Your Linguistic Profile:

70% General American English

15% Yankee

10% Dixie

5% Upper Midwestern

0% Midwestern

Neat Photo editing stuff...

The software for the frame thingy came with the drivers for my digital camera. If I can figure out HOW to get the flash to work on my digital

camera, I'll post a few pics!

Finally got a digital camera...

Above: The Skinny V scrappy ghan I'm making for my cousin, Cindy Beaches.

Molly being droopy on a hot summer day in our South Central Kansas back

yard. Lovely. But, hey! If we're eligible, why not go for it?

I know I really haven't said much about my other big passion- cooking. I'm always trying out new things, so I won't get bored making the same old stuff all the time. Well, last night's dinner was one of those excursions. Let's just say, I wasn't too enthused with the Grilled Pork Chop Recipie I tried...it was okay..but, I think it could be done better- Wasn't so much the grilling process. Rather, I think perhaps I need to find a different Marinade, and that I should've marinaded it longer..perhaps even pounding the Boneless Pork Loin Chops out to make them thinner. The Orzo Primavera was okay...so so. Think I like Rachael Ray's Cheesy Orzo better. I never was much on turnips...SO really didn't like that. But, the Cherry Danish Dessert! OMG- that stuff was awesome. And kid approved. Normally when I get in to a baking mood, I'll share a little of it with my next door neighbors' grandkids. Especially Diego and Dakota are VERY fond of getting treats when I bake! So, if those two like it, then I know it's VERY good stuff! LOL..

The other big thing this week has been the rather short lived, abrupt BTK trial. You see, I was just a little kid when this happened- When BTK was out killing men, women and children for his own- apparently sexual gratification...and also to make damn good and sure no one could ID him! I grew up being afraid of the BTK. It's something I wouldn't wish on anyone...the fear, terror, and insecurity in one's own home. Years of "Faceless Man" nightmares. ( I had those nightmares starting in December of 1977...to February, perhaps March of 1985.) They weren't pretty...It's NOT easy to sit there and watch in your sleep, a Faceless man kill your family in front of you. (Frankly, I would've been extremely happy IF the BTK had gotten my stepmother- God knows I HATE the bitch,anyway...would be one less thorn in my side and stone out of my shoe,if he had! But, my Dad is something completely, utterly different!- Just let Radar Westerfield DARE lift his hand to MY Dad....I don't think he'd like what he'd earn from the attempt!)

But, when Rader was taken into custody, and held as a Person of Interest in regards to the BTK case- at first I was shocked! My eyes widened as I saw them take computer equiptment, and storage tubs of items from the Park City City Hall...Then the following day, the big press conference where our current Police Chief, Mr. Williams announced that "BTK is arrested"- and gave a few basic details. Shortly after wards KSN began showing the police taking things out of the suspect's home- More computer equiptment, storage tubs of things, then that gold mine of goodies/ evidence out of Rader's shed? Then the reports of his daughter's DNA being used to help catch him. The alleged, and later confirmed confessions? Adding THREE more victims to his already sad, but impressive roster of murders attributed to him since he resurfaced in March of last year? It began to REALLY sink in, when I saw the police take ALL that evidence out of the Rader residence in Park City. That afternoon after the big press conference, Wichita's inhabitants that drove, drove with their headlights on as a Thank you to WPD for nailing the BTK! I kid you not! True fact there! The second day, I had a rather comical, yet revolting thought cross my mind- that Rader looked like AND reminded me of a sick, warped, twisted cross between Radar from MASH, and the convicted serial killer, Westerfield...Until Monday, I had often, in a tongue in cheek fashion, referred to Rader as "Radar". It wasn't until AFTER the events of Monday that I'd put together what I've referred to him the past few days- "Radar Westerfield"..and have often quipped that I'd be none too shocked if he was David Westerfield's long lost twin. And, perhaps the BOTH of them are in actuality Satan's bastard spawned issue?? Given that they BOTH have the same penchant, evidently!

After seeing what I saw, and hearing what I heard while watching Radar's court appearance, I found it to be particularly chilling, revolting..and definitely something I wouldn't wish upon anyone to witness. The cold, clinical, detatched, emotionless way he revealed precisely WHY he was guilty of each of those ten counts...and the inability to even look the judge OR anyone else in the eye WHILE admitting what he'd done- screamed "Cowardice!" I especially thought it was sickening how he tried to hem and haw- NOT wanting to reveal that his crimes were sexual gratification oriented. His little ribbald comment- "The Bondage is what got me into trouble!"- Ha! Dumb git! It wasn't the bondage, it was killing TEN innocent people, two of which were children! It was particularly sickening and revolting that Rader referred to what he did as "Projects"...or that he "Put down" or "Took down" his victims- as if it was hunting season, and innocent human beings were prime hunting fodder...That he saw people as little more than rabid, or attack animals in need of extermination - along with the rest of it is MORE than enough to make my skin crawl! I think THIS is more than enough to lend credence to my asscertation and hell bent determination when I insist that when I look at Dennis Rader on tv, I'm NOT looking into the face of a human being.I am truly looking upon the face and countenance of- if not Satan himself, or his Bastard Spawned son! I will go to my grave with this opinion. Cut and dried. There has already been talk that Rader MAY well get sent to El Dorado's Maximum Security Facility- which is approximately 30 miles from Wichita..and is where the infamous Carr Brothers are being held. To be utterly honest, after hearing of the..somewhat dubious, yet honorable, noble code that exists in prisons- that those that commit crimes against children are often attacked, if not murdered. It is MY sincere, heart felt hope that Radar Westerfield gets precisely one of two things- That the Carr Brothers corner him and do what they did to THEIR victims...or that he get the precise, same exact thing Dahamer got when he was killed in prison...My third option is highly unlikely, but, would be fitting- that some big bad Bubba or Roscoe (Hardend Inmate with nothing to loose, mind you..) Make Radar Westerfield his er...shall we say...learn what it's like on the other side of the coin? It seems to me...he needs some Bubba or Roscoe to Master him..or something along those lines. I bet he'd scream like a weak, cowardly, pathetic little girl, if that were the case! And, I bet he's NOWHERE as big and as bad as he THINKS he is, either! Then just up and take 'playtime' a little too far...hence sending Radar Westerfield to the morgue...with a one way ticket tied around his big toe! While my heart goes out to the victims'families...my heart also goes out to his wife and children. How this HAS to be some kind of living hell for them- or a nightmare they wish they could wake up from!

Ok! now, that I have finished my BTK bitch rant and rave...Let's get on with the fun, GOOD stuff! I still haven't printed off copies of ALL the motions as per the case from the DA's site...and I had a heck of a time getting my hands on the Special Edition of the Eagle Beacon until I went to the Eagle Beacon down town to buy a couple of copies- which they bundled- the special edition and the Extended version together for 50 cents! You never know, if that, along with copies of all the motions, AND Mr. Beattie's book, "Nightmare in Wichita" MIGHT make a really neat, if garrish collector's item or keepsake....just to say, "Hey, I lived through it, and I got copies of everything released! Yay me!" - Ya never know!

Okay..I hit the mother load in terms of cross stitch stuff at the Red Shield, yesterday- I netted, ten cross stitch books- ( The pricey ones that are $6 or so a pop) ALL for a dime each! I also netted what looks like maybe 16 ct. Aida cloth for a quarter a peice, as well as three pre-made cross stitch towels- two of the Huck Towels with a showcase boarder..and one regular one..with the border/band. )and a skein of teal yarn ALL for $3.50!!!! Believe me- I know book wise alone, I perhaps paid less than a TENTH of what it would've cost me retail. (Either Hobby Lobby, Michael's, Wal Mart or Heart's Desire.) With the two huck towels - one being white, the other Ecru...to make a matching set, I'll need to pick up one of each of the colors.) I'm eager to try them out- I haven't tried doing the Cross Stitched Towels like that...But, I'm sure they're not difficult to do!

As for crocheting, I'm still plugging away on getting the afghan and kitchen set finished in time for the reunion July 23.

What I'm really going to dread with the new increase in the sales tax is that the proceeds from this increase is going towards something that I personally feel is a waste of money..not to mention I think that money could be BETTER spent taking care of the people that NEED assistance, but can't get it! Furthermore, this new Arena that got voted in...is something that Wichita doesn't need! Let's face it, Wichita isn't a HUGE city like LA or whatever..or even New York or Chicago...Only half a million people live here...and, with as bad off as the economy, and employment situation is- Voting in a new Arena is perhaps the MOST ignorant, senseless thing anyone voting could've done! The River Walk proposed project is JUST as bad, in my opinion. They SAY that it's going to bring more jobs..yeah, PART TIME jobs! Low paying jobs! Good gods! They say they want new businesses to come here to bring new jobs and more money to the local economy, yet, they refuse to spend the kind of money it takes, and they refuse to make the kinds of preparations needed TO accomplish such a thing...BUT, they're ALL for these low paying, part time jobs...that really, in the long run are going to prove to be MORE of a waste, than add anything to the economy or anything else beneficial that's REALLY needed! Makes NO sense. I think it's largely due to the fact that Kansas is a Republican State..and ALL for the Rich man..not to mention they don't want to increase or add to the minimal social services that are already here...so as to prevent an influx of low income, or homeless people coming through for whatever reason. Frankly, I think it's a case of , "Well, you know?I got mine! Too bad you don't have yours...but, I'll be damned before you take anymore from me, and SCREW you!" kind of mentality. So, yeah...I'm NOT enthused, or a happy camper about the new sales tax increase that's due to start July 1st..and definitely NOT happy with the new arena stupidity!

Happy stitching...and craft goodie gathering!
Nita

Wanna see the Crochet Pretties????

Broken Hearted. You see, today, my family laid to rest someone that was the best of all of us younger cousins! My cousin, Brad Cook. He was full of it! In more ways than one! Awnery, always poking fun at everything...but SO much the dare devil...he wasn't just a Cowboy ...he rode Bulls! Many a time, I was the one he poked fun at...but, I was laughing right along with him. I really couldn't tell you any precise occaisions...they just happened. Then again, I DO know Brad absolutely hated ANYONE getting a little of their own back on him in retaliation for his little dumb stunts! I was one of 'em that found that out! But, you know what, it certainly didn't mean I didn't love Brad any less! I think he knew it. SO many times over the years, when I thought of Brad, it always made me smile...and I never forgot his love for his family, that devious glint in his eyes and that positively rotten grin of his....I suppose now, he's probably treating God, and our loved ones that went on before us...( My Mom, Grandparents Ira and Frances Love..Aunt Betty and Uncle Lloyd, my cousin Mark,Uncle Bob...everyone in the family that died before him...) To the entire "Brad Experience". I know I'll be okay. But, who I'm worried about is Brad's wife, Leanne, and their three kids, Ashton, Bo,and Logan! It literally ripped my heart to shreds to hear Tolli, Leanne, and his children sob so brokenly, and break down due to this devestating loss...I hurt right along with them, And I continue to cry along with them, as well. I cannot stand seeing my family hurt like this! Abd, I wish there was a way I could take that pain so they wouldn't have to hurt...but, I know I can't. It sucks! But, that's just how life is. Just like it sucks how we'll never know WHAT really happened just outside Abilene when that Flash Flood took Brad from us. I've heard more than one theory...For the life of me, I can't just picture Brad getting a wild hair up his keester and going off like that into a dangerous area- in one way....but, in another, knowing that he used to delight in besting bulls...riding them in Rodeos...in a way it makes sense...but, then again, the other theory is just as plausible- in so far as, when he met up with the flash flood, he may have been trying to push his truck back onto the road...but, the force of the Flash Flood waters swept him away...We'll never know what happened...and the fact that it took days for him to be found, along with the damage done- it was a closed casket. Frankly, I don't think I would've wanted to see him like that. I think I'd rather remember him as I've always remembered my cousin...with whom I shared the exact same day of birth...full of life, laughing, awnery, up to no good..devious...- someone who could light up the room with just a Brad smile, with a Brad twinkle in those eyes....and, oh yeah. He had a thing for Aunt Ann's Spiced Pecans! LOL...

The totally strange thing about his funeral was how it ALL felt SO surreal....I can't explain how or WHY in any capacity..but, to me that's how it felt...Surreal....like a Nightmare I was never gonna wake up from!

I only have but one picture of Brad...but, I have no way of accessing a scanner so I can share it with you. But, if I could...I think you'd see just WHY Brad was SO special to each and every one of us...and YES, he WILL be missed! For the person he was...the devious little things he'd do or say...He was simply an amazing person...
Loved, but gone, and NEVER forgotten....
Bradley A. This photo was taken when she was two months old. What a little cutie she was!! Well...she still IS a cutie...but isn't quite so tiny anymore. She'll be four in October...and has grown into quite the little sweet heart..So spoiled rotten she's sweet! She's very much her Human Mommy's girl...loves her ball, bone, treats...and cuddling with me when I crochet. One of her favorite things is curling up in which ever afghan I have going at the moment...provided it's big enough for a 45 lb over grown Molly to curl herself in, and cuddle up! Then again, she also delights in getting between me and the crochet hook, and providing me a free model when I take pictures! She's quite the ham. She is also equally as wild over her "Papa"- my Dad, Jack. When I have more recent pictures that are formatted TO be uploaded, I promise I'll post them!

This is another of Molly's puppy pictures...this one is a close up- Just look at that face...and you'll see why I just had to bring her home! Thunderstorms. Flash Floods...torrential rain, scary looking clouds...all of it since Friday night! It was SO bad that all the main areas in my home town flooded out as they are prone to do...even Pawnee and Seneca , and Pawnee and Meridian! My neck of the woods! But, hey! I wasn't out in it! I was crocheting! I really haven't put much in on the scrap ghan I have going, but, I did manage to finish off the set of CD Coasters, and have one Doll Dress Pot Holder nearly completed. (That's targeted for a Kitchen Set that's going to be a Christmas gift.)

Speaking of wild, violent bad weather here in Kansas. I just found out yesterday that my second cousin, Brad Cook died. It just seems wierd that Brad should be dead. It certainly wasn't those dammed ol' bulls he rode when he was into Rodeo..nope. It was a Flash Flood in Abilene, Kansas that nailed him. I know I should be crying...but,I can't. I don't know if it's the unsurreal feeling that's been running through me since yesterday...or me denying it that Brad's really gone! We were second cousins. We both shared the same date of birth. He was just fourteen hours older than me. But, growing up, Brad, his sister, and my cousin Cathy's kids all played together when Dad and I would visit Eureka when I was a kid. This is just hitting TOO close to home...Not to mention the reality of it being that Brad is the first one in our family that was killed due to a natural disaster so to speak. My God! Did it have to be a Flash Flood in Abilene, Kansas?! *shakes her head*....I suppose what's REALLY messing with me is knowing that his wife, kids, Tollie, and the rest of my Aunt Mattie's and Uncle Junior's family are all hurting over loosing Brad. At this point, I'm still too numb and in denial TO hurt or cry...when I want to SO badly! This feels as if a HUGE chunk of my childhood's been stripped away. Maybe, I need to see Brad laid out in his casket to actually believe that he really IS gone??? Anyway..the funeral is Monday in Eureka...

Welcome, and Hi's and Howdies from Kansas....

This is my new blog. I kinda sorta lost interest in the other blog I started last September. SO...I started a new one- and you're reading the inaugural installment- such as it is!
For starters, I'll tell you a little about myself...not that there's REALLY that much to tell. I'm sure you've noticed that my name is Genita. And, I'm from Kansas...I'm 37, single, taking care of my elderly father...and also have two four legged critters, a dog, Molly Christine, and a cat, Abbey Danielle...whom I might add is pregnant...and sure to drop her litter any day, now. Both the girls are three and a half...going on four.

Crochet. Well...me learning to crochet, wasn't really meant to happen. It just kinda sorta did. Prior to that, I was really heavily into counted cross stitch. However, with the best designers navigating to hand dyed fabrics, fibers, and other embellishments, it was soon out of my budget...about the same time I learned how to crochet, thanks to my aunt, Linda Shrewsbury. (Lefties rock! LOL..) For the longest, all I knew how to do was Granny squares, but, that soon became boring, and I was loosing interest. Once I sat down and actually tried reading patterns, it was as if an entire new world opened up for me, and off I went....on the venture or journey that must seem like some bizzare parallel to "The Highlander".- ' The Game'....or even the crochet version of how it is with quilters- "She dies with the most fabric wins!"- well, in my case, it's "She who has the most yarn and patterns wins!"

The really interesting thing, well, actually it's trivia...worthless trivia in a sense- is that I'm the FIFTH of an unbroken line of women in my birth family that crochet. ( I'm adopted,by the way.) So, maybe it's in the blood? Out of curiosity, I wonder if there is a gene that lends one the propensity TO crochet???

I'm an avid yard sale devotee...LOVE a good yarn buy from a yard sale. Sometimes I can pick up a tall kitchen trash bag sized bag of scrap yarn for around a dollar...usually early in the season. My other big thing is the free patterns on the internet! Another great money saver....although going about it the way I do...CAN and HAS ran into money...going to the public library to use their public internet access and printer...a dime a sheet...To be utterly honest, I'm not so much on the trendy stuff. I'm more the type that goes for the personal sites that offer people's tried and true patterns, Vintage Patterns, or patterns reminiscent or are adaptations of Vintage patterns, or stitch tutorials.

As for projects I have going? At the moment, I have 2 baby ghans- a Ripple and a Mile a Minute. And, a Scrappy ghan- Yarncat's Beefy V...(I'm doing mine the Skinny V way. With one strand of yarn held through out, rather than the two the Beefy version calls for.) - I'm hoping to have that one finished well before the third week in July- as I'm planning on THAT one going to Eureka with me for the Family Reunion, and will be given to my cousin, Cindy Beaches.

That's really the latest in terms of crochet.....

Happy stitching and yarn gathering!!!!

Nita
